AI Integrated Content Creation Workflow
To streamline my content creation process, I integrated the new Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Image ("Nano Banana") API directly into the admin backend of my portfolio site. The system provides a seamless, in page tool for generating unique, high quality header images from simple text prompts, eliminating the need to use external image generation tools.
CHALLENGE
The primary technical challenge was architecting a secure backend service (running on AWS Lambda) to manage the Google AI API key and proxy requests, ensuring no sensitive credentials were ever exposed to the client side. On the front end, the main hurdle was designing an intuitive UI for the iterative refinement process and managing the state of the evolving image and its associated prompt history.
OUTCOME
Successfully integrated a cutting edge AI tool into a practical, real world application. This project reduced the time to create a blog post finding an image which has the correct licenses from 10-15 minutes to under a minute. It serves as a strong proof of concept for how modern AI APIs can be leveraged to build efficient, time saving tools and enhance existing development workflows.
